We restrict access to non-public personal information about you to those employees who need to know that information to provide the requested products or services to you. We maintain physical, electronic, and procedural safeguards that comply with applicable regulations to guard your non-public personal information. Our business partners are legally bound to use your information for permissible purposes.
Information We Collect
We collect personally identifiable financial information (also known as non-public personal information) about you from the following sources:
- Information that you provide on application or other forms
- Information about your transactions with us, our affiliates or others
- Information we receive from a government or consumer reporting agency
Non-public personal information does not include information that is available from public sources, such as government real estate records.
Information We Share
Unless you tell us not to, we may disclose some or all of the non-public information that we collect about you, as described above, with our affiliated companies and certain non-affiliated third parties. An affiliated company means a company we own or control, a company that owns or controls us or a company that is owned or controlled by the same company as us. A non-affiliated third party means a company that is not an affiliated company. Such non-public personal information may include:
- Information that we obtain from your application, such as your name, address, social security number, assets, income and/or your employment history
- Information about your transactions with us, affiliates or others, such as the parties to your transaction(s) and your payment history
- Information that we obtain from a consumer report, such as your credit score or history
- Information that we obtain to verify representations made by you, such as your bank balances
- Information we obtain from you regarding your employment or credit history.
Sharing Your Information For Business Purposes
We may share non-public personal information about you with affiliated and non-affiliated parties for everyday business purposes. Some examples include mailing your statements or processing your payments. You cannot opt out of these. We may also share your personal information as federal and state law requires. Among other permitted disclosures, the law permits us to disclose to our affiliates information regarding our transactions and experiences with you.
Sharing Your Information For Marketing Purposes
We do not share your information with affiliated or non-affiliated third parties for marketing purposes.
If you prefer that we not disclose non-public personal information about you to our affiliates and non-affiliated third parties, you may opt out of those disclosures, that is, you may direct us not to make those disclosures (other than disclosures permitted by law). You may direct us not to disclose this information by calling us toll free at 212-792-0107. You may opt out at any time and your request will take effect in 30 days. If you have already opted out, you don't need to opt out again because your request will never expire. An opt out request will apply to all joint account holders.
We will not share the personal information of Vermont customers with our affiliates or non-affiliated third parties, except as permitted by Vermont law or with your consent. We may still share data about our transactions or experiences with you with our affiliates.
